Woven Rattan, Nordic Style

In a bathroom where every object has to earn its place, a Nordic rattan laundry basket makes its presence felt without showing off: rounded belly, clean outline, no unnecessary ornament. This restraint is exactly what gives it character. Each row of rattan is woven by hand with a regularity you notice at first glance and confirm by touch. The structure stays firm even when the basket is well filled, because hand worked rattan keeps its natural rigidity over time. An accessory designed to last and fit quietly into a light, orderly decor.

Rattan Weaving, Nordic Heritage

Behind the apparent simplicity of a lidded rattan laundry basket lies basketwork of real complexity: each crossing of strands follows a precise sequence, where the rigor of the gesture matters more than ornament. Rattan, a supple but demanding material, requires constant tension from the weaver so that the structure stays firm and the shape regular once finished. It is this discipline, invisible to the eye but noticeable to the touch, that sets a hand shaped rattan basket apart from a mass produced piece. In your home, it settles in like an object that took time and attention to make.

Discreet Storage, Natural Spirit

Tucked into a bedroom corner or set near the bathroom, a Nordic rattan laundry basket knows how to be forgotten while quietly structuring the space. The hand woven rattan forms an airy wall that lets laundry breathe, and the lid keeps it out of sight. The natural tone of raw rattan pairs as well with white walls as with the light wood palettes of Scandinavian interiors. Far from plastic bins or metal boxes, this rattan basket brings the gentle presence of a living material shaped by hand, whose character grows with time.

Frequently asked questions

How big is the Nordic laundry basket?

It measures 23.6 in (60 cm) high and 17.7 in (45 cm) across at its widest. It holds more than a load of laundry, which makes it a good family size hamper.

Does it have a lid?

Yes, it comes with a matching woven lid that keeps laundry out of sight, holds in the mess and keeps the bathroom or bedroom looking tidy.

Can I put damp towels in it?

Let towels dry before tossing them in. Natural fibers breathe, but leaving wet laundry inside for days can cause mildew. Empty the hamper regularly and let it air out.

How do I clean a rattan basket?

Remove dust with a soft brush or the brush attachment of your vacuum, then wipe with a slightly damp cloth and let it air dry. Avoid soaking it or leaving it in direct sun for long periods.
