Light Filtered Through Rattan

Hung above a table or a sofa, an oval rattan drum pendant transforms the quality of light as much as the atmosphere of a room: hand woven natural rattan spreads a dimmed glow that softens volumes and warms the tones of the room. The rounded silhouette of this light comes from precise handwork, where each strand is placed to ensure both the strength of the structure and the regularity of the pattern. A tight weave and a generous shape come together to offer lighting with character, simple and durable, that fits a contemporary interior as well as a more traditional decor.

Natural Rattan, Soft Light

Hung above a dining table or a reading corner, the oval woven rattan pendant light spreads a filtered light that reveals the texture of the hand woven strands. Each gap between the natural rattan fibers lets the warmth of the light through, creating a play of shadows on the walls and ceiling typical of plant materials. Its rounded shape, the result of careful shaping, fits a pared back contemporary interior as well as a space with more generous volumes. The hand woven rattan structure ensures a visual lightness few other materials can offer at this scale.

Rattan Through Every Mood

Some materials have the rare gift of softening a room without you quite knowing why. Rattan is one of them: its hand woven texture spreads a filtered, warm light that transforms the atmosphere of a living room or a bedroom as soon as it is switched on. Hanging an oval rattan pendant light from the ceiling brings a living material into your home, with honey or natural highlights depending on the time of day. Each woven motif plays with shadow and creates soft projections on the walls, without anything flashy. The oval woven rattan drum pendant suits a pared back interior as well as a warmer, more colorful decor.

Frequently asked questions

Which size oval rattan pendant should I choose?

S (15.7 in) suits a bedside, a hallway or a pair above a kitchen island, M (19.7 in) a dining table for four, and L (23.6 in) a larger table or a living room.

What bulb should I use?

It takes a standard screw base bulb. The bulb is not included. It is rated for 90 to 260V, so it runs on standard US 120V current. Choose an LED bulb, which stays cool next to natural fibers, and a warm white around 2700K for a cozy glow.

How high should I hang a pendant light over a table?

Leave about 30 to 36 in between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade. Over a walkway or in an entryway, keep at least 7 ft of clearance from the floor.

Will a woven shade make my room too dark?

The weave filters the light rather than blocking it, so you get a soft ambient glow and patterned shadows on the walls and ceiling. For reading or kitchen tasks, pair it with a brighter light source.

How do I clean a rattan shade?

Switch the light off and let the bulb cool. Dust the shade with a soft brush or the brush attachment of your vacuum, then wipe with a slightly damp cloth if needed. Never soak natural fibers.
