Rattan and Metal Woven Together

Metal and plant fiber: two materials that have nothing in common, brought together here in one piece where each plays its role without erasing the other. The metal frame gives the rattan globe cage pendant its rigor, its strength and its ability to last; the rattan wraps this skeleton in supple curves that soften the whole. The result is an open, breathing structure that lets light move freely through the weave, casting shifting shadows on the walls throughout the day. Sturdy in its design, this rustic rattan cage pendant suits the main living spaces of a home as well as a kitchen or a covered porch.

Woven Rattan, Filtered Light

When rattan strands interlace to form an open cage, they naturally create a play of shadow and light that no fabric lampshade can reproduce. Hung above a dining table or a reading corner, your rattan cage pendant light spreads a soft, dappled light that gently brings the surrounding walls to life. The round structure, fully woven by hand, keeps a light look while giving the ceiling a strong presence. This airy basketwork suits the kitchen of an old house as well as an interior with clean lines, without ever weighing down the space.

A Light Presence Under Your Ceiling

Hang it and watch the light play through the woven strands: the rattan globe cage pendant does not weigh down the space, it opens it up. Its open structure lets air and eyes through, drawing soft shadows on your walls that move throughout the day. Made by hand from natural rattan, each frame keeps slight variations in tone and texture, the signs of a living material worked without molds or machines. In a living area as in a bedroom, it brings a visual breathing space that metal or glass fixtures cannot offer.

Frequently asked questions

What does the cage pendant look like?

It is a round, open cage of natural beige rattan woven over a black metal frame. The open weave casts strong patterned shadows, which makes it a great statement light above a dining table.

What bulb should I use?

It takes an E27 base bulb. The bulb is not included. It is rated for 90 to 260V, so it runs on standard US 120V current. Choose an LED bulb, which stays cool next to natural fibers, and a warm white around 2700K for a cozy glow.

How high should I hang a pendant light over a table?

Leave about 30 to 36 in between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade. Over a walkway or in an entryway, keep at least 7 ft of clearance from the floor.

Will a woven shade make my room too dark?

The weave filters the light rather than blocking it, so you get a soft ambient glow and patterned shadows on the walls and ceiling. For reading or kitchen tasks, pair it with a brighter light source.

How do I clean a rattan cage shade?

Switch the light off and let the bulb cool. Dust the shade with a soft brush or the brush attachment of your vacuum, then wipe with a slightly damp cloth if needed. Never soak natural fibers.
