Rattan, Metal and Hemp, Well Assembled

Three materials answer each other in this pendant: hand woven rattan, metal and knotted hemp, each bringing its own strength to the whole. This combination of natural fibers and a metal structure gives the woven rattan disc pendant lasting sturdiness, without making the silhouette heavy or betraying the spirit of traditional workshops. Hemp reinforces the joints where weaving alone would not be enough, the sign of making thought through to the last detail. You get a rattan light fixture made from carefully sourced materials, designed to last for years without losing its shape or visual warmth.

A Light That Sets the Mood

Depending on where you hang it, the same room changes face. Placing your retro rattan disc pendant above a dining table, in a hallway or near a reading chair is enough to reshape the quality of light in the space. The tight rattan weave filters the LED light and spreads a soft glow, without harshness or glare. It is this interplay between the density of the weave and the light source inside that produces the warm highlights typical of rattan, impossible to achieve with a fabric or metal lampshade.

A Light That Wraps and Soothes

Some lights simply illuminate a room; others transform its atmosphere until a simple reading corner becomes irresistibly welcoming. Hung from the ceiling, this wavy rattan disc pendant light spreads a dimmed light that warms the walls and invites you to rest. Hand woven rattan lets the light through in fragmented patterns, casting discreet shadow play on your surfaces, typical of this natural material. It suits a bedroom as well as a living room or a sunroom, fitting any decor that favors raw materials and the softness of plants.

Frequently asked questions

How big is the wavy rattan disc pendant?

The shade measures 19.7 in (50 cm) wide and 8.7 in (22 cm) high, on an adjustable 59.1 in (150 cm) cord. It suits a dining table for four to six or a living room.

What bulb should I use?

It takes an E27 base bulb. A bulb is included. Choose an LED bulb, which stays cool next to natural fibers, and a warm white around 2700K for a cozy glow.

How high should I hang a pendant light over a table?

Leave about 30 to 36 in between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade. Over a walkway or in an entryway, keep at least 7 ft of clearance from the floor.

Will a woven shade make my room too dark?

The weave filters the light rather than blocking it, so you get a soft ambient glow and patterned shadows on the walls and ceiling. For reading or kitchen tasks, pair it with a brighter light source.

How do I clean a rattan shade?

Switch the light off and let the bulb cool. Dust the shade with a soft brush or the brush attachment of your vacuum, then wipe with a slightly damp cloth if needed. Never soak natural fibers.
