Strong and Supple to Work With

In a maker's hands, the quality of webbing shows from the first tension: no warping, no cracks, just a frank hold that reassures. The 16 inch wide real Indonesian rattan cane webbing roll meets that need with dense fibers, selected for their resistance to repeated use. Its regular checkered woven pattern ensures an even seat, whether reviving a bistro chair or designing a brand new piece of furniture. Light to handle, it cuts and fits without complex tools, making it a material loved by professional caners as well as careful amateurs who care about the durability of their creations.

Hand Woven Indonesian Rattan

Unrolling a real Indonesian rattan cane webbing roll means holding a material harvested when mature, dried and then worked with precise gestures that ensure a regular weave. Each band has a constant width and a smooth surface, two qualities that come directly from the care taken in selecting the canes. This real Indonesian rattan develops a golden patina as it ages that enriches the final look of your creations or restorations. Its natural density also gives it good resistance to compression, making it a reliable material for reseating chairs as well as dressing furniture fronts.

Rattan in Its Natural State

There is something deeply soothing about working a material that carries the warmth of the sun and the suppleness of living things. The 16 inch wide real Indonesian rattan cane webbing roll offers exactly that connection to the natural: a dense fiber, supple under the fingers, that responds precisely to each weave or reseating job. Its untreated golden tone brings seats and backs an authenticity synthetic materials cannot imitate. Indonesian rattan, harvested when mature, ensures lasting strength while keeping the lightness that makes traditional caning so loved.

Frequently asked questions

Which length should I choose?

The roll is 15.7 in (40 cm) wide. S is 19.7 in long, L is 39.4 in and XL is 59.1 in: measure your panel and add a margin.

How do I work with cane webbing?

Soak natural cane in warm water for 20 to 30 minutes so it becomes supple, fit it into the groove or staple it, then let it dry: it tightens as it dries.

What can I use it for?

Reseating chairs, dressing cabinet doors and headboards, making room divider panels, or renovating rattan and wicker furniture you already own.

How do I care for it?

Dust it with a soft brush and wipe with a barely damp cloth if needed. Keep natural fibers away from standing water and direct heat.
