Soft Light in Oval Rattan

Hung above a table or in a quiet corner of the living room, this folded oval shape catches the eye even before it is switched on. Its silhouette recalls lanterns of the past, reshaped here by hands that master the bending of rattan with precision. The folded oval rattan pendant spreads a light filtered by its tight crossings, casting soft, moving shadows on the walls. Each piece has a slightly different curve, a sign of careful hand shaping where the rattan fiber is folded and tied with a measured, never industrial gesture.

Natural Rattan, Dimmed Light

Hung above a coffee table or a reading corner, the folded oval woven pendant light spreads a soft light that highlights each crossing of hand woven fibers. The oval curve comes from controlled folding that gives the rattan its tension and characteristic lightness, with no visible metal frame. The hand weave lets the light through unevenly, casting moving shadows on the walls that change with the time of day. A long cord lets you adjust the hanging height freely to suit your ceiling, low or vaulted. The natural tone of raw rattan pairs as well with light wood as with white or plastered walls.

Soft Light Through the Rattan

Switched on at the end of the day, the folded oval rattan pendant spreads a dimmed glow that softens the corners of a room and invites you to slow down. The hand woven strands filter the light rather than projecting it, creating the moving shadows typical of natural rattan on the walls. It is exactly this quality of indirect light that makes the folded oval rattan shape so loved in interiors seeking warmth and authenticity. The fiber, supple while being shaped, keeps a firm rigidity after drying that ensures the shape holds for years.

Frequently asked questions

Which size folded oval pendant should I choose?

S (19.7 in long) suits a bedroom or a small table, M (23.6 in) a dining table for four, L (31.5 in) a long table for six, and XL (39.4 in) a large dining table or a living room.

What bulb should I use?

It takes a standard screw base bulb. The bulb is not included. It is rated for 90 to 260V, so it runs on standard US 120V current. Choose an LED bulb, which stays cool next to natural fibers, and a warm white around 2700K for a cozy glow.

How high should I hang a pendant light over a table?

Leave about 30 to 36 in between the tabletop and the bottom of the shade. Over a walkway or in an entryway, keep at least 7 ft of clearance from the floor.

Will a woven shade make my room too dark?

The weave filters the light rather than blocking it, so you get a soft ambient glow and patterned shadows on the walls and ceiling. For reading or kitchen tasks, pair it with a brighter light source.

How do I clean a rattan shade?

Switch the light off and let the bulb cool. Dust the shade with a soft brush or the brush attachment of your vacuum, then wipe with a slightly damp cloth if needed. Never soak natural fibers.
